 With two rounds to go in the ONGC I-League, the relegation mystery still remains unfold and will certainly go down the wire as bottom half teams are in no mood to give up their hopes to see themselves in the next edition of the ONGC I-League. East Bengal will take on JCT at the Guru Nanak Stadium, Ludhiana with an aim to get the three necessary points to move out of the relegation zone, while JCT, who are already out of danger, will hope to end the I-League on a high note edging past the Kolkata giants. JCT are currently on 7th spot with 31 points and three points will see the in the top five in the I-League tree, while East Bengal after defeating Chirag United in their last encounter are on 8th place with 28 points.

East Bengal have played two match less and will have to get a positive result before they take on their arch rival Mohun Bagan in their second leg encounter on May 16. Nigerian defender Uga Okpara, wing-back Saumik Dey and midfielder Alvito D’Cunha will miss Sunday’s encounter due to double booking. Abel Hammond will be back in the side after serving one match automatic suspension, while Bhaichung Bhutia still looks doubtful due to his injury. JCT will miss the service of midfielder Sakatar Singh due to groin Injury, while Gurwinder Singh is still recuperating from his knee injury. Striker Baljit Sahni can be introduced in the match in the later part as Parminder Singh doesn’t want to take any chances. JCT come into the match after suffering a 0-2 defeat at the hands of Pune FC but have been in superb at home. Both their Nigerian recruits, Henry Ezeh and Emmanuel Okoro have been in decent form, which changed the fortune of the Phagwara side in the return leg. East Bengal found a new hero in the form of Beikhokhei who netted in both the goals against Chirag United. The young lad proved his selection right and has been a new flavour to the depleted East Bengal side this season along with Sanju Pradhan.


Both the teams played a goalless draw in the first leg at Kolkata.
